5 Social Media Marketing Tips

  1. Represent your theme - If you’re an entrepreneur, have some branding in your back banner on facebook, and upload a photo of yourself to be used as a profile picture. If you are a company, you want your logo to be displayed prominently. Before you publish each of your posts, reflect on how they serve your brand and if this content is meaningful to your audience.

  2. Check for errors - Ask a friend to read through your profile and tell you what they think. Don’t have a thousand hashtags - just a few that are meaningful. Spelling mistakes and typos are definitely going to be noticed by viewers and could weigh on your credibility by web spiders or search engines.

  3. Optimize image specs - Check out more information on the website for info on image sizes and specs. Facebook support has a thousand articles so just check it out for more information. Here is a resource you can use right now in 2022 to find image specs. Use it to find maximum files sizes, recommended aspect ratios, and accepted file formats for popular websites to optimize the images you are using.

  4. SEO your landing pages - Make sure the title of your page has a main keyword. It’s best practice to use headers that contain keywords as well. Use synonyms, but don’t ‘keywords stuff.’ Keyword Stuffing is one of the oldest spam tactics and is penalized by major search engines. You can actually be banned as a result of trying to keywords stuff your webpages.

Make sure you have a Meta Description, as that is what is visible on the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Although it can be longer, only the first approximately 150 characters of your Meta Description will be visible on the search engine, so make sure it includes the messaging that has the highest conversion or ROI potential.

  5. Make your website accessible - If your demographic is over 65 you want to use bigger font. The overlying thing is accessibility of your website. Consider people who are hard of hearing, who have mobility issues, or are color blind, for example. How can we help them see your content as equally as everyone else? Keep your sentences nice and short - don’t write long, academic sentences. They should read as if someone was realistically having a conversation. Your keywords should aid, in terms of accessibility, as a guide to what people want on your website. People want you to get to the point. Keywords and accessibility Are what make you more than just a writer- but a digital writer.
